At Zon-en-Veld Handmade, we believe that the most beautiful things in life take time. Born from a love for the rugged beauty of the South African landscape and the tactile richness of natural materials, our studio focuses on the marriage of two timeless arts: the strength of genuine leather and the intricate texture of artisanal crochet.

Every bag we create is a conversation between tradition and modern design. My husband and I pour our focus into every stitch, ensuring that each piece isn't just an accessory, but a companion designed to last a lifetime. A Legacy of Purpose.

While our hands are busy with leather and yarn, our hearts are driven by a deeper mission. Zon-en-Veld is more than a brand; it is a legacy. Our journey into professional crafting began as a way to navigate the profound loss of our son, Eben Zonneveld. Eben’s own journey with mental health taught us the vital importance of support, awareness, and the need for a safe space for troubled teens and their parents. In his memory, we founded The Eben Legacy Project. Today, a portion of every sale from this shop is dedicated to funding mental health awareness campaigns and providing much-needed referral resources for South African families navigating similar paths.

Why We Create: We chose the name Zon-en-Veld (Sun and Field) because it represents the warmth of the sun and the grounding nature of the earth — elements essential for growth and healing. When you carry a Zon-en-Veld piece, you aren't just supporting local South African craftsmanship. You are helping us keep a vital conversation alive. You are helping us ensure that no parent or teen has to walk their journey alone.
